Processed Meats

There's something about processed meats that really turns vegans away from eating them.  Some might find them to be highly processed, while others think there's too much soy.  Sure, they are processed, but variety is the key to a vegan lifestyle.  I tend to find fake meats very enjoyable to eat on occasion.  They add a variety, and the best thing about them is that they contain no animal product!

Most fake meats are non-GMO.  If you want to know more about non-GMO

Fake meats have their place in a lot of consumers' refrigerators, mainly vegans.  Some vegans believe that if a food is highly mechanically processed, it's not technically considered vegan, and it shouldn't be consumed.  To me, as long as the package says the word, vegan, I am going to try it!  Obviously, a few phone calls to the company about their ingredients before I purchase their products are needed.  For the most part, don't be afraid to indulge in a variety of meats; portion control is the key to anything in life.  Try them out, see if you like them.

If you're going to purchase any type of vegan burgers, be careful.  The ingredient list can be very deceiving, so if you have any questions, just call the company.

Tip: Watch the sodium content, some can contain up to 600 mg, in 4-8 ounces!
